What is there to write, what is there to say? Same things happen ev'ry day; Not a thing to write, not a thing to say, So I take my pen in hand and start the same old way. Dear, I thought I'd drop a line, The weath-er's cool, the folks are fine; I'm in bed each night at nine, P.S. I LOVE YOU; Yesterday we had some rain, But all in all, I can't complain; Was it dusty on the train? P.S. I LOVE YOU. Write to the Browns just as soon as you're able, - they came a-round to call;- I burned a hole in the dining room table, And let me see, I guess that's all; Nothing else for me to say, And so I'll close,by the way, Ev'ry-bod-y's thinking of you. P.S. I LOVE YOU. LOVE YOU.

: Mercer was a co-writer on "P.S. I Love You" sung by Billie Holiday on the "Stormy Blues Verve" album. Gordon
Jenkins was the other writer. Now I need the lyrics. Anyone have them?

What is there to write, what is there to say?
Same things happen ev'ry day; Not a thing to write,
not a thing to say, So I take my pen in hand and
start the same old way.
Dear, I thought I'd drop a line, The weath-er's
cool, the folks are fine;
I'm in bed each night at nine, P.S. I LOVE YOU;
Yesterday we had some rain, But all in all,
I can't complain;
Was it dusty on the train? P.S. I LOVE YOU. Write
to the Browns just as soon as you're able, - they
came a-round to call;-
I burned a hole in the dining room table,
And let me see, I guess that's all; Nothing
else for me to say, And so I'll close,by the way,
Ev'ry-bod-y's thinking of you. P.S. I LOVE YOU.
LoVE YOU.

I found a Mercer/Jenkins version of P.S. I Love
You in "For The Boys" (music from the motion
picture, 1991 Warner Bros. This song was sung
by Bette Midler and the version has a few slight
differences to the one mentioned above.

Dear, I thought I'd drop a line, the weather's
cool, the folks are fine. I'm in bed each night
at nine, P.S. I love you. Yesterday, we had
some rain, but all in all, I can't complain; was
it dusty on the train? P.S. I love you.
Write to the Browns just as soon as you're able.
They came around to call. I burned a hole in the
dining room table, and let me see I guess that's
all. Nothing else for me to say and so I'll close
oh, but by the way ev'rybody's thinkin' of you,
P.S. I love you. I do my best to obey all your
wishes, I put a sign up, think, now I got to buy
us a new set o' dishes, or wash the ones that are
piled in the sink. Nothing else to tell you dear,
except each day feels like a year. Ev'ry night
I'm dreamin' of you, P.S. I love you.
P.S. I love you.

I really enjoyed the song and sang it at a voice
recital last night 3/27/98.
