I've been singing Johnny Mercer tunes for a long time now and still find his lyrics and musicstand the test of time. When a young person comes up to me after a concert and says how much they enjoyed "Candy" or "Dream" or "Come Rain Or Come Shine",it makes me feel good that theylike the lyrics that mean so much and have something real to say. This is a great way to find outmore on this wonderful composer, his music will never die. I've sung in Savannah, Ga. many times and I still take the time to go to his grave and say "Thanks" for the joy his music brought to the world. Michele Bensen

I am a college student who has recently "discovered" Johnny Mercer and I think his lyrics are so much more emotionally deep than anything of my generation. Thanks for helping me get a little insight into his work.

I just discovered your site. I didn't know that Johnny wrote several of my favorite songs from that era. I once heard that he wrote "On the Atchison, Topeka & the Santa Fe" as he waited for an "A,T & SF" train to pass. Any truth to this?

This is really what the internet is all about. Terrific.Found a lot of information. Only problem was I could not leave a message on the BBS.Tried to leave the following:My wife is going to be doing a concert in France in September and she would like to do both the English and French versions to Once Upon A Summertime.English lyrics are by Johnny Mercer with music by Michel Legrand and Eddie Barclay. The French version is entitled" La Valse Des Lilas" with the French lyrics by Eddy Marnay.I would appreciate any and all help on this.Thanks.But then I received the following:CGI ErrorThe specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:Can't open perl script "C:\InetPub\wwwroot\johnnymercer\cgi-johnnymercer\wwwboard.pl": No such file or directory Thanks

This site is terrific! I am a collector of Johnny Mercer tunes on CD. Currently, I have 579 performances of 230 different songs. I have found several Mercer songs not included in Martin Hall's list and would like his email address to send them to him. Also, I have many more CDs that are not included in your lists if you would like them. Thanks for your website!
