I have always loved
the genius that was Johnny Mercer. I saw Texas
li'l Darlin twice and was enthralled. I still have the 78rpm
album from the show. For at least the last 5 years I have tried
to find out what happened to Mary Hatcher with no success if you
know Please e-mail me some information. I have a half dozen
Broadway anthologies and histories and it makes me angry that
none of them ever mention Texas Li'l Darlin. If I hadn't seen it
myself I would think I was crazy. Thank you for this wonderful

I came here looking
for the complete lyrics to "Strip Polka" and
unfortunately what's here doesn't include transcript of Mercer's
intro or closing of his recording of the song. Wasn't aware of
the Andrews Sisters doing it till I got here, either.
Interesting.
There was a question posted as to what band did back up, and
while it's true that the bands differ per different productions,
I happen to have a copy of Mercer's rendition for public market
on 78 rpm format. All I have to do is dig through my collection
till I find that one record, and come back with the info that's
on the label.
May take some time, though--I've got crates of 78's to look
through, ha. |

I used to listen to Lucky Lauger Dance Time...from San
Francisco....The music was typical of that era....But the point
of my comment is that.. Johnny Mercer's " Dream " was
