It was a very nice touch to have all those Johnny Mercer songs on the soundtrack of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

I couldn't go with my wife to the east because of work, so the only company I have this Christmas is 'Baby, It's Cold Outside', sung by Johnny Mercer and Margaret Whiting, which I have on repeat (1) (yes it is Dec 25).

Johnny Mercer was part of my growing up. I was born in 1931 and his songs were woven into my youth. Tears come to my eyes every time I scroll the song list and listen to the melodies because every song brings back a time and place in my life. Thank you Johnny, I can see you smiling right now.

Hi friends, I am a very fortunate italian because with my wife Paola whe have been five times in Savannah thanks to the hospitality of a dear friend of us (Viki Sepielli) living on Burnside Island in a wonderful home with a gorgeus wiew on the Moon River. The last time we have been there (september) we where granted by major Adams with the honorary citizenship and with the keys to the City. The film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" sparked my interest in Johnny, I have a personal interest in the film's characters. Good site.

A wonderful voice but above all the incredible poet with lyrics that have lasted across the years.

During the golden age of American popular songs. Johnny Mercer wrote some of the most evocative and imaginative lyrics. I think it would be a fitting tribute to his genius for the Johnny Mercer Foundation to support the publication of "The Complete Lyrics of Johnny Mercer". Such a book would take its rightful place alongside the Complete Lyrics of Larry Hart, Cole Porter, and Ira Gershwin that have already been published, and the forthcoming Irving Berlin.

I've been a student and lover of American popular music for over 50 years. Having considered Hart, Porter, Dietz, Gershwin, Sondheim and one or two others, many years ago I determined that the greatest of them all was and is Mercer. His gig at Lyrics and Lyricists many years ago, I was lucky enough to have been there, was just too marvelous for words.

My mom and dad knew Johnny in the thirties in Georgia. I was born in 1941 in Macon, GA, and first learned about Johnny when I saw Song of the South as a child and learned to sing Zippy de Do Dah. He wove himself into all our lives. It's great to be able to visit a website dedicated to him and learn just how many of our favorite songs he wrote. Whatta guy!

Have been a Johnny Mercer fan since he starred in Disney's "Song of the South" with Bobby Driscoll. I've been trying to locate a copy of the soundtrack (Capitol) called "Tales of Uncle Remus". He also did a great job on the Broadway show Lil' Abner...can't find that soundtrack either ("Jubilation T. Cornpone", Namely You", "It's a Typical Day".

I am the assistant director of the "Aces" Show Choir and we are currently performing a tribute to Johnny. There are 64 ,3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who sing many of Johnny's songs often accompanied by Emma Kelly.We have a great time keeping the memory alive and performing broadway style music.

Loved to hear Johnny sing, I was just a teen-ager, born in 1929.Especially liked "AC-CENT-TCHU-ATE THE POSITIVE" and "Candy".There were many more that he sang that were just great, what a singer, such talent to be able to write songs also.I bought and played his 78's over and over again.Thanks for the great site, a real tribute to him.

I have been a fan of JM for many years. I met him years ago while working as a DJ in Palm Springs,CA. To say he was 'personable" is an understatement. His music will live forever,and is made all the more astonishing when you learn how many different composes he worked with.

The Hilton Head Chorale, of which I am music director/conductor, presented an all-Johnny Mercer concert, three performances on October 17, 18 & 19. The show was a tremendous success with more than 2,000 in attendance at the three shows. I am taking this means to thank publicly the webmaster of this side, Steve T., for his interest in and support of our efforts. Steve loaned us some most interesting "visuals" for display at our shows. The audiences love them, and they contributed greatly to the success of our show. Thanks, Steve!

I lived in Hawaii for 32 years before moving to Washington.I had the pleasure of sitting at the feet of Johnny Mercer in the home of Martin Denny and he sang "Accentuate the Positive" just for me. It's time someone did a Movie on hislife. I was hoping Clint Eastwood might pick up on thatwhile he was filming in Savannah. "When the World was Youngalways brings tears to my eyes. I was born in Savannah, my dad and Mercer were friends.My parents divorced when I was young so I know mostly about my dad what my mom said, but she also met Mercer .My dad was a piano player in nightclubs in the 40's in Savannah. I enjoy this web page.

Clint Eastwood's "Midnight in the garden of good and evil" was tremendously important to become more popular one of the most important songwriters of our century. If the rap generation had the opportunity to get in touch with lyrics such as "Laura" they wouldnever return to play the garbage they insist keep listening to.

I enjoyed finding his music in my mind. It was pleasant to summon up language for the clear musical line of the piano. I hope it would be possible to make copies of the song titles from the web site.

I first heard about Johnny Mercer when reading, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Although I'd heard many of his songs before, I didn't know anything about their creator. Then I realized he was the author of "Goody Goody," one of my favorite songs (sung by Frankie Lymon), and decided to check him out on the Web. Great Site and an incredible resource!

I've known who Johnny Mercer is for a whole 10 minutes and I'm already a big fan.I actually came across this site trying to find the lyrics to some of the songs in one of my favorite movies (figuring they weren't original to the movie). Sure enough, I've already found three of them here on your website.If you can, go out and find a 1993 movie by George Lucascalled "Radioland Murders". It features as it's opening tune "Love Is On The Air Tonight" and it's ending credits are "And The Angels Sing". It also features "That Old Black Magic". Great Site!

This website just gets better and better. Recently discovered Nancy LaMott's 1992 cd of Johnny Mercer songs "Nancy LaMott Come Rain or Come Shine". Fantastic album.

My daughter and her boyfried were looking at music boxes and as they listened to Moon River my daughter said," that is one of my favorite songs." Her boyfriend replied that was written by my grandmother's cousin, Johnny Mercer. Of course he wasn't believed at first. After I heard the story and did some research I was amazed at what one person was able to do.
